Keeping our heart strong is vital for our overall health. These simple tips are things you can do daily to improve and maintain your heart health. 

 

1. Use fiber to maintain cholesterol levels.

When you consume fiber, it binds to the cholesterol in the food you eat while it is in your gut. This prevents your body from absorbing the cholesterol.

 

2. Interval style exercise to improve heart and lung health.

Interval training involves working hard for a shorter, defined amount of time, then resting. High-intensity interval training, or HIIT, is an example of this. The faster your heart and lungs can transition from a resting state to a hard-working state, the healthier they are.

 

3. Oral hygiene to control bacteria growth.

Poor dental hygiene allows bacteria to grow unchecked in the mouth. If these bacteria get into the bloodstream, maybe from bleeding gums, it travels to the heart and prevents it from functioning normally. Brushing your teeth regularly helps to keep the proper balance of bacteria in your mouth and strengthen gums to prevent this.
