Apple Pie Recipe Without Added Sugar

Ingredients:

- 3 organic Granny Smith apples and 3 Honeycrisp or Gala apples, peeled and sliced thin

- Two tbsp lemon juice

- One cup rolled oats

- Half tsp cinnamon powder

- Pinch of nutmeg

- One tbsp coconut oil, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Prepare apples by tossing them with lemon juice in a large bowl then lay out flat on the bottom of a pie plate that has been coated with cooking spray or olive oil.
  3. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, cinnamon powder, and nutmeg together. Sprinkle over top of apple slices so they are fully covered.
  4. Drizzle coconut oil over everything - this will prevent it from baking dry!
  5. Bake for 20 minutes until the oat mixture turns golden brown around the edges and apples are soft when you poke down into them with a fork. Can be served warm or cold depending on your preference!

Extra Tips for Baking Apple Pie Without Added Sugar:

- The coconut oil will help the oat mixture stay moist during baking. If you do not want to use oil, replace it with a tablespoon of water or more rolled oats.

- You can also use cane sugar, or any other type of sweetener that your family enjoys, if weight loss is NOT a goal for everyone at your table!
